Genre: Mystery

Murder! The smell of gunpowder could not be mistaken. Marilee’s dreams were back. Or was it truly a dream, or a nightmare? She found out the next day, much to her horror. One dream and she becomes a suspect. Lillie Ammann opens with a chilling scene and doesn’t let loose her grip until the final spine tingling scene. All 252 pages will keep you wanting more. Who did kill Barbara? If they knew why, maybe they could find out who, but the list of suspects keeps growing.

This is Ms. Ammann’s second book and if her first one is even close to this good, we have a major new author on the bookshelves. Her clear writing is easy to understand and the list of suspects easier to follow. By the third page, you know who did it, or do you? By the second chapter you are again sure of who did it but not the same as the first suspect. As of the last chapter you figure it is a conspiracy of all the suspects. Yet when you read the conclusion, all the clues did point in the right direction. The answer is so clear, yet obtuse throughout the book.

Dream or Destiny will have you wanting more books from Lillie Ammann and as a reader I know I do. There are a lot of murder mysteries on the market, but few if any are written as well as this. I recommend this to anyone who likes a good page turner and doesn’t mind spending all day reading because you won’t want to put this down.

  2. You gotta love a mystery that keeps you guessing to the end! And Lillie does a great job on the psychology of the characters.

  3. Thanks, Helen. This story kept me guessing until the end when I wrote it, so I’m glad it does the same for readers. I had to keep writing until the murderer revealed himself to me.

  5. I think it’s very interesting that you write without knowing who the bad guy is. That’s one thing I always know so that I can drop clues as I progress through the manuscript.

  7. Marvin,
Hope you act on the piqued interest and enjoy the book.

    Helen,
As Ron described in his review from a reader standpoint, I thought I knew who the bad guy was when I started … but my idea kept changing until the clues were all in. 🙂

    Bluestocking,
    Nice to see you here.
